Questions people ask

Is Box Stack free?

Yes. It's free on Google Play. There's a banner ad at the bottom of the screen, and when a tall tower goes over you can choose to watch a short ad to rescue it.

Is it on iPhone?

Not right now. Box Stack is on Android, through Google Play. You can still play a short round in any browser.

Why don't finished rows disappear?

Box Stack isn't a falling-block game. When you fill a row, it sets and stays right where it is, becoming the new floor for everything above it. Anything below a finished row stops counting toward your lean, which is why finishing rows is the best way to keep going.

My tower fell over, but it looked balanced!

Height isn't what gets you. Lopsidedness is. Boxes near the top pull much harder than boxes near the bottom, so a small overhang up high matters more than a big one down low. The bar at the top shows how close you are to tipping, not just which way you lean, and when it turns red the game starts dealing you boxes that give you a way out.

Can I rotate the boxes?

Nope. Every box goes down exactly as it's dealt. That's the whole puzzle, and each set of boxes is checked to make sure there's a way to survive it.

Does the game need the internet?

Only for ads and for measuring my ad campaigns. The game itself runs entirely on your phone and plays fine with no connection. Nothing you build, score or unlock is ever sent anywhere, and there's no account and no server of mine. Google AdMob shows the ads that keep it free, and Tenjin tells me which of my ads lead to installs. The privacy policy says exactly what they collect and how to reset or limit it.

How do I delete my data?

Clear the app's data in Android settings, or uninstall it. Everything the game saves lives on your phone, so that removes all of it. Your phone's advertising ID belongs to Android rather than to the game, and you can reset it under Settings → Privacy → Ads. The privacy policy has the details.

Can I suggest something?

Please do! Email me, or leave a review on Google Play with your idea. I read all of them, and a five-star one makes my whole day.

Accessibility

Box Stack works with TalkBack: the board and the boxes describe themselves, and every piece can be placed with a screen reader. If something about it doesn't work for you, please let me know. Those are the reports I care about most.
