Privacy Policy — Box Stack
For Box Stack (com.boxstacker.app), developed and
published by Tallman Games.
This policy describes what the app stores, what its advertising and attribution providers collect, and the choices available to you. It covers the app on Android and on iPhone and iPad; where the two differ, it says so.
1. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following locally and does not transmit it:
- your scores, records, badges, landmarks and experience total
- lifetime counts of runs, rows, boxes and time played
- your settings, and whether you have completed the tutorial
- the game in progress
- when an advert was last shown, and how many runs ago, so that adverts can be spaced
This information is not linked to your identity, and we have no means of accessing it.
2. Information collected for advertising and attribution
Adverts are supplied by Google AdMob. To serve them, Google collects and processes:
- your device's advertising identifier, a resettable ID that does not contain your name, email address or telephone number. On iPhone and iPad it is shared only if you allow it when Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks whether the app may track you; if you do not, adverts are still shown, without it
- app activity: that an advert was requested, displayed or interacted with
- device and network information inherent in making the request, including IP address, from which an approximate location may be estimated
- diagnostics: how the app and the advertising software perform, such as launch time
Google acts as an independent data controller for this information. Its use is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and by how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. We do not receive the underlying identifiers or advertising profiles from Google.
Adverts appear as a banner, occasionally between runs, and optionally when you choose to watch one to continue a run. No advert is shown while a run is in progress.
On Android, Tenjin measures whether an install or later app opening resulted from an advertising campaign. For that purpose its software may process your advertising identifier, an app-specific installation identifier, install-referrer and campaign information, IP address, device and operating-system information, language, locale and country, network information, app version, and app-open and session timing. It is also told three things about how the app is used, so an advertising campaign can find people who enjoy it: that three games were finished on the day the app was installed, each time you watch an advert for a second chance, and that three second chances were taken in the first week. These are names only, sent without any value. It does not receive your scores, towers, records, badges, landmarks, settings or other gameplay.
The iPhone and iPad app contains no attribution software, and nothing in this paragraph or the next applies to it.
Tenjin processes this information for us and may send campaign attribution to the advertising network responsible for the campaign, including AppLovin. Tenjin uses infrastructure in the United States. Its processing is described in Tenjin's Privacy Policy, and AppLovin describes its use of information in AppLovin's Privacy Policy.
3. Your choices
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app requests your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before any advert is requested or Tenjin is connected. Tenjin reads the same saved consent choice before connecting. If the required purpose is refused, Tenjin opts out and makes no attribution request. If you decline personalized advertising, adverts may still be shown but are not personalized. You may revisit your choice by clearing the app's data (Settings → Apps → Box Stack → Storage → Clear data) on Android, or by deleting and reinstalling the app on iPhone and iPad.
- Tracking on iPhone and iPad. You may change your answer to Apple's tracking prompt at any time at Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Advertising identifier. On Android you may reset or delete it at Settings → Privacy → Ads on your device.
- Google ad settings. You may manage personalization at adssettings.google.com.
- Access or deletion. You may email us at the address in section 9 to request access to or deletion of attribution data. We may need your advertising identifier to locate the request with the provider.
4. Sharing you initiate
Two controls send something to another application, and only when you use them: sharing a score card offers that image, and sharing the app sends a link to its store listing. The receiving application is the one you select. We receive nothing.
5. Device backup
If Android's backup is enabled on your device, your records and settings may be copied to your own Google account backup and restored to a new device. This is performed by Android under your Google account and is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
On iPhone and iPad, your records and settings are included in your device's own backups, to iCloud or to a computer, and may be restored to a new device. This is performed by Apple under your Apple Account and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
On both, the game in progress and the advertising counters are excluded from backup. We cannot access this data.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and is not published under Google Play's Designed for Families program or in the App Store's Kids category. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything stored locally. On Android you may also clear it at Settings → Apps → Box Stack → Storage → Clear data; on iPhone and iPad, deleting the app is the way to clear it. The advertising identifier belongs to your device rather than to the app; see section 3. Clearing or uninstalling the app does not delete data already transmitted to an advertising or attribution provider. Contact us using section 9 if you want us to forward an attribution-data request to Tenjin.
8. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app collects information beyond what is described here, this policy will be updated before that version is released and the effective date above will change.
